STEM Exploration
It started with a simple idea: showcase the joy of STEM exploration at the neighborhood level. The goal was to create something engaging, accessible, and local—bringing STEM programming directly to the community rather than asking people to come to us. Partnering with the city of Cleveland, we collaborated with STEM educators and organizations to host a series of hands-on activities for families.
From building robots and crafting hip-hop beats to designing mini soapbox derby cars, the events were a resounding success. Food trucks, water stations, take-home STEM kits, and an atmosphere of creativity made these gatherings unforgettable. The joy and engagement we witnessed have inspired us to find new and innovative ways to build on this success, ensuring even greater community impact in the future.
Inspiration in Proximity: Bringing STEM Close to Home
STEM Exploration Days serve as a direct response to the accessibility issue by bringing STEM learning to neighborhood recreation centers, familiar places and accessible to community members.
By offering interactive and immersive activities, the program engages participants in meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity and interest in STEM disciplines.
This approach provides exposure to STEM concepts and creates a sense of empowerment, fostering the development of crucial skills and confidence among participants, especially those who may not have had previous access to such opportunities.
