Keshia Chambers is a civil engineer who works at OHM Advisors.
Keshia believes young people should explore the many pathways that STEM training offers, and believes STEM allows you to be the explorer that you want to be. In Keshia’s words,
“Explore, and don’t be afraid to try something different.”
What advice do you have for students today?
Find someone that’s doing something that you’re curious about. And even if it’s just some videos you watch on YouTube or someone that you can actually go and talk to and just ask about their experience and you know what they find interesting about their work and what they do, And then just kind of dive into it.
Take Deep Dives. Go Down Rabbit Holes.
Don’t be afraid to take some deep dives. Go down a rabbit hole. You can come up out of the rabbit hole and go into the next one.
Be willing to learn something new.
Always be willing to learn something different and explore something new.
Try to learn as much as you can about a specific field. The world of STEM science, technology, engineering, mathematics I mean, there’s just such a broad spectrum of areas of interest. And don’t just think you’re pigeonholed into one thing.
Be brave. Be bold.
